Director David Arevalo


David Arevalo from Laredo, Texas recently graduated from Sam Houston State University with a Masters of Fine Arts degree in Dance. Sam Houston State awarded him scholarships to study abroad in Paris, France and Lucca Italy as well as a Graduate Teaching Assistant position. While at Sam, he performed works by Bliss Kohlmyer (former Bill T. Jones dancer), Dione Sparkman-Noble, Kyle Craig Bogard, and Robert Battle’s The Hunt restaged by Jennifer Mabus. During this time, he also performed as a guest artist with NobleMotion Dance Company. In 2016, David served in the TExEs Dance 6-12 Standards Review Committee for the Texas Examinations of Educator Standards. Before pursuing a masters degree, Arevalo taught at Vidal M. Trevino School of Communications and Fine Arts High School. At Vidal M. Trevino, he taught Ballet, Modern, Jazz, Dance History Studies, and founded the National Honor Society for the Dance Arts Chapter. Throughout his five years at VMT, David coached the J.W. Nixon High School Mustang Cheerleaders leading them to several National titles. He also worked for Laredo All American Dance Studio’s Infinity and Electra All-Star Pom and Hip-Hop teams. Prior to this, he was an adjunct professor of Dance at Laredo Community College where he taught Ballet and choreographed for the faculty’s concert each semester. While at LCC, he choreographed Laredo Theater Guild International’s production of Oliver! in 2008 and Beauty and The Beast in 2007. This past summer, David had the opportunity to produce and choreograph the Miss Southwest Texas USA Pageant and teach across the country with MA Dance for the 10th summer in a row. For the past ten years, David has choreographed numerous National and Regional Award-winning choreographies for High School Cheer, All-Star and Drill Team Dance.
